Why kitchen grease is its own job

Pull your range hood filter out and hold it up to the light. If you cannot see through it, your extraction is doing very little, and the grease it should be catching is going into the room instead. Yes. The filter comes out and gets soaked, which is the only thing that actually works. A wipe-over of the outside of a range hood is cosmetic and does nothing for airflow or smell.
Will the grease actually come off?
In almost every case, yes. Grease is a solvent-and-dwell-time problem, not a scrubbing-harder problem. Where it has been baked onto a surface by heat for years -- typically the wall directly behind a gas burner -- there can be some staining that will not lift. We will tell you that before we start rather than after.
