Before you book: the five details a cleaner needs

Send these five things up front and you'll get an accurate quote and a right-sized crew the first time — no site visit, no back-and-forth, no surprise on the invoice.

1. Size — bedrooms, bathrooms, and roughly the square footage or the number of levels. This sets the crew size and the hours.
2. Condition — lived-in and dusty, heavy kitchen grease, a pet home, a smoker's home, or fairly tidy. Be honest; underselling the condition just creates a re-quote on the day. Honest condition sets the right price and the right expectation.
3. Occupied or vacant — furnished and occupied (the crew cleans around contents) or empty. If the home is fully cleared out, a move-out clean is usually the better-scoped, better-priced job.
4. Access — lockbox code, key handoff, or you meeting the crew. Include any alarm details or parking notes for condos and gated complexes.
5. Deadline — the photo and showing date, so scheduling works backward from it. Tight windows are fine; we just need to know.

• Living areas & bedrooms — dusted top to bottom, baseboards and trim, spot-cleaned marks on walls and doors, floors vacuumed and mopped, and surfaces cleared for the camera.
• Whole home — vents, ledges, ceiling corners, door frames, switch plates, and handles; interior windows and glass doors so the photos come out bright.
• Entry & odours — clean front door, handle, and step; and an odour treatment if there's a pet, smoke, or cooking smell. Odour is the silent dealbreaker buyers never mention out loud.
